  • I do hope that he gets back to work in the Stadium District, he's bought up so many properties there before finishing what he stared. Even seemingly completed projects like the original Stadium District building and Block 600 have tons of surface parking where further buildings could be developed. If we had a more diverse community of well-heeled developers here he would have never been able to buy up all those properties to begin with.

Hood, you posted about this last September, but WLNS is reporting on MSU starting one of its child development labs in Lansing, but there is not information given aside from Gillespie Company is developing it on "the Eastside." Seems like a weird announcement and not to announce a building. You said the state appropriate money for a 15,000 sq ft center, but none of Scott's buildings currently has that. That closest you get is the 9,500 sq ft in Provident Place or the old MSU Building near Marshall, which is 9,900 sq ft. The Venue is all rented out.

So maybe this is going to be a new construction? Seems like for something of that size, you'd probably need two stories in a building that stretches a block along Michigan. Or...they might just decided that they'll squeeze it into one of those 9,500-9,900 sq ft spaces. I would hope for a new building
  • I really have no idea. If not in a new building there's certainly some office buildings along Saginaw in the Groespeck area that I could see it going in, there's a couple medical office buildings near Sparrow or maybe there's room in The Armory? New construction is always welcome, especially when it's an empty lot being built on.

The three buildings at Michigan & Marshall are listed together and combine for 16k sq ft.

Here's a listing of properties from Gillespie's site, he also owns a church on Chester that's about the right size:

  • ...Turns out it's the other Gillespie and it will be in the old church at Michigan and Hayford:

Yes, Scott owns Gillespie Company and Pat owns the larger Gillespie Group.

Well, that's interesting. I had no idea that Liberty Christian was even vacant. I'd have liked to see a new build, but it's just as well that an older interesting building is being reused.
