  • Not sure if this had been discussed on here yet, but I didn't recall a project like this at the St Lawrence Campus...

  • Unless I'm misunderstanding something these new facilities are going to be at Sparrow's main campus, the mental/behavioral health operations will move from St Lawrence to here. What's not clear is where on their property this will be or if the facilities will be separate or part of some sort of combined facility. The design shown in the rendering is befitting for a sprawling suburban campus, if that one story section with the driveway loop is what's facing Pennsylvania that'd be salt on the wound. I have nothing nice to say about Sparrow or their projects so I try to avoid saying much at all.

Ah, I misread. It does state replacing, not necessarily at the current site. I thought that seemed odd.

Yeah, I can't say I'm a fan of their very suburban approach and destruction these days. It's very disappointing. I actually worked on a proposal for an ambulatory surgery center at MI and Penn years and years ago. It was much more urban, right up against the sidewalk. It wasn't more than 3 or 4 floors, but it tied in nice. Seems like their development really took a turn once they became part of UM Medicine.

I was more optimistic when I thought this was going to happen at St Lawrence. I was surprised, but also confused. I'm sure this is just the shit they're replacing Eastern with...

That all said, I have some connections that know a decent amount about this...I'll have to see what they can tell me about it...not that it's going to make anything better.
  • Yeah, it is disappointing. I would certainly be interested in hearing any insights as to what's in store.
