  • For those who haven't seen yet: https://www.lansingcitypulse.com/stories/ovation-center-retrenches-on-its-albert-kahn-redesign,152818?fbclid=IwY2xjawMnIAZleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHj9ELWVlpXVCKwc_T2uuO6eP0nleEwIjpmFCBLe_wBXQHEye4AWEvFVsXlEB_aem_OesaeIZhU4VmIrPx_58wRA

I actually like the more "grungey" aspect to the latest rendering. I also think the overall streamlining of the design makes sense. It was a pretty wasteful design, in my opinion. I get having pleasing design elements, but there is a point that they're doing very little for a decent chunk of change.
  • I'm late here but... I am a little disappointed in the dialed back design but I just want to see the damn thing built at this point. The fact the Macotta Club space sits empty without any visible work at all is concerning for both these projects. I continue to be concerned that something not good, nefarious or not, is up. I hope to be proven wrong soon.
  • I saw a large excavator dropped off here in the past couple days, maybe real work is finally beginning? Seeing steel rise here will be a sigh of relief.
  • I think this is the real deal and we will see hopefully an interesting and useful "civic center" grow up from the old parking lot. I can't really remember what stood on the block other than the little brick building they are keeping. I do remember there was a "dirty bookstore" across the street next to the bus station, my parents always told me to not even walk on that side of the street by that shop. It was kind of funny that as kids we could go downtown on our own, but my parents always had a list of places we could not go and streets not to go down! Of course those were streets in the black neighborhoods, I used to walk down those streets anyway and rarely even saw another person let alone someone to be afraid of. I wondered what was it, they were so afraid of? They were good people but had the prejudices and fears of the day
