They seem overly large; I could have seen street level signs here. They put up similar signposts on Abbot at Albert, they hold traffic signals and voice animated pedestrian signals, again I think street level signs would have looked better for an urban intersection.
They look like traffic light poles to me, no choice but for them to be overhead if so. I strongly prefer the metal poles to the wire mounter traffic lights.
I was thinking the signs and traffic lights could be on street level posts like in front of the Capitol Building, I wonder why they are installing lights at that intersection. I guess they may be for pedestrians crossing, you have to drive down the street [Michigan Left] to cross over to the eastward lanes from Clippert. Oh well they don't ask me about these things.
I had to go check streetview, there are overhead lights on Capitol at Michigan, just not at the end of Michigan which I'm sure took some regulatory shenanigans. There's all sorts of regulations around the placement, size, etc... of traffic lights, hard to escape some of that stuff. I don't hate the thought of a light at Clippert and Michigan, I'd wish they'd put one at Clippert and Grand River.
They have now also painted white "stop here" lines at Clippert and Michigan, so a pretty sure sign traffic lights are going in. (Still no traffic lights yet.)
Is it just me or does this traffic light seem really close to the ones on either side, and unnecessary? If they time the lights like downtown, it will take forever to get through here.
We really have a problem timing our lights well. Disagree? Just drive down Kalamazoo at the speed limit or 5 over lol.
The whole road seems kind of crazy, why you cannot just take the drive from Frandor straight across Michigan to the new development without doing a Michigan left or at Clippert the same arrangement requires a Michigan left to get to the other side. I would guess that it is a State highway M-43 thing. The lights on Michigan Ave do time if you get in the sequence.
I'd hope that with the new traffic light they'll be removing the traffic control there and allowing through traffic on Clippert, the installation of traffic lights would be a baffling choice without that change.
