  • I really like the idea of a restaurant incubator. As much as the new City Market has been a failure, and really was a failure from the design stage, the location is very valuable and the city shouldn't pass it off to a private developer. The new upg…
  • Thanks for sharing the idea even if you don't get rewarded for it!
  • Yes unfortunately many unprotected bike lanes become a defacto shoulder for street debris. In the winter it's common to see snow get plowed in to the bike lanes. These were not problems when they were auto lanes.
  • I agree with the council members that want to require a prevailing wage if public funds are used in the development. Enough profits will be made from this project that paying a prevailing wage should not kill the project. Maybe it adds a couple year…
  • Oh, thanks! My browser had blocked it because it was loading from twitter What does that second solid white line separate? It's nice to see more bike lines, would be nicer if they were protected though.
  • The colon at the end of your message has me hoping that you were trying to include a picture Were you able to get a picture of the new bike lane?
  • Maybe "new" has different interpretations and they will subdivide Adado Park? I'm not sure that is legally possible though. Otherwise could it be on Museum Drive?
  • There's also a medical clinic in the second floor of the Flint farmers market, which brings extra traffic to the market.
  • Can you post a screenshot of this area? I'm having a hard time finding where along Abbot/Chandler Road this is.
  • Yeah this route will be great for commuters as well as leisure travel. Great to see movement here!
  • Has anybody heard much about the Eastside Connector? My mom saw this today on the Nextdoor website: Eastside Connector Project The City of Lansing is proposing a non-motorized project from Grand Avenue in downtown Lansing to the east side o…
  • The main reason it dies off is due to the absence of life there for 15 years. There used to be a lot of businesses in that Thai Hut block, and you can see how that extends towards Crunchy's etc. Building something at Park District has the potential …
  • The LSJ ran a story yesterday about the various construction projects in East Lansing (they included Park District even though there is no current proposal). https://www.lansingstatejournal.com/story/news/2018/04/05/4-developments-watch-downtown-…
  • A great grocer to have would be the Whole Foods 365 concept that they opened in Brooklyn last year. It's a lower cost Whole Foods, https://www.365bywholefoods.com/ This is pretty major news, but I really wish that the grocery store would go on on…
  • I feel so pessimistic about this situation with the quality of our roads. The raffle would just be another form of a tax (like the lottery). Sponsored roads just mean that the richer areas of the city have a better quality of life. This is what our …
  • Those are all great news! The Dunckel turn is such a high speed and seemingly dangerous corner. I wouldn't want to bike on the street in that section so a sidewalk there will be a tremendous help for anyone who isn't feeling confident with the traff…
  • Cost per ride for public transit is almost always at a loss, but the measurement doesn't include economic impact and the reduction of traffic through ride sharing. Most of those press releases are designed to reduce confidence in public transit.
  • A quick glance through the first four pages of https://curbed.detroit.com doesn't show similar bright colors being used in Detroit developments. I am doubtful that they will stand the test of time but for apartments that's OK. I'd be more worried if…

  • Unfortunately gondolas have limited capacity, poor frequency, limited stops, and high up-front costs. They are best suited for mountains or very steep hills. Grade-level and below grade transit is still much cheaper without all those negatives. I've…
  • Lol, it seems many cities in Michigan are fighting for the distinction of worst roads
