Yeah, I'm not a fan of them. They have basically made sprawl more affordable. I don't know if East Lansing would have had all the development up Chandler Road if it wasn't for the 425. It would have been great to see those get built closer to campus.

People are chasing urban Target because both downtown East Lansing and downtown Lansing severely lack a grocery store. If a smaller independent grocery store were to locate in the immediate downtown that would make me happier.

I think the benefits are mutual. The city doesn't have to insure the building anymore and doesn't have to act as a landlord. The museum can control its property and not have to worry about losing their lease.
