Great, thanks for posting this! I have pretty high confidence that this will proceed. Core Campus has already developed many projects like this in other college towns, and they have already been able to lead a change in the zoning ordinances so this…

I agree with MichMatters. The state has been cutting funding and it's evident through the need for neighboring municipalities to have to merge city services. What may seem like a cheap cost to have someone maintain the parks is actually more cost…

No worries I think it happened to me when I changed my notification settings. I might be able to go in to the database and fix it manually, just need to let it get high enough on my bucket list first :P

I don't think it was ever announced before, outside of the Tavern & Tap project. It would have been nice for the same businesses to reopen in the new building if it was built, or maybe they could remain owners of the land and the buildings could…

I've stopped getting emails for new posts. I'm curious if this is specific to my account or have other people been noticing a lack of emails for new posts too? The last one I got was on May 19th.

That's true, you're right I had forgotten about the recession which was the largest factor in East Village and City Center 2's failure.

@Ponceybaby I'm not sure who you're replying to when you say "you are right". Lansing can't sustain some of the development that you're asking for. It's not a small town mentality it's simple facts when you look at population changes, job growth, a…

Most of the projects that never come to fruition are usually out-of-scale for surrounding areas. White Oak Place is proposing 6-stories on Grand River near Hagadorn, but there isn't anything near that size in the area. Red Cedar Renaissance and City…

"Major news" is expected soon regarding this project. From the LSJ: "We’re preparing for a major announcement before the end of the summer," said Kelly Rossman-McKinney, a spokesperson for local businessman Joel Ferguson, a developer for the p…

@sabatoa I think you might be confusing this tower with the smoke stack that has the giant lugnut on the top of it, which is much more iconic and shows up in almost every skyline picture of Lansing. I just did a Google image search and couldn't find…

Thanks for the picture. I know it's already partially dismantled but this picture shows how brutalist that watch tower was. I'm glad to see it go. I only wish the new clock tower was 50 feet taller.

Thanks! Yeah, it's awesome to have a community of like-minded people to chat with. My pleasure

I have just updated the website to the latest version (2.3.1), which was released on May 11th. Please let me know if you notice any issues with the website, however this is a minor security fix and there should be no functional or noticeable changes…

Yeah, the alley between the parking lot and the buildings is staying. The other business owners need the alleys for product deliveries.
-
Depending on how they build it there may not be any inward facing apartments. They could put the hallways along the alley and each apartment could run the length of the building.

Here's a link to the story, http://www.lansingstatejournal.com/story/news/local/2017/05/01/school-blind-project-date-set/101023694/ The article says construction will start July 3rd. Construction of its first phase, a $12.5 million developm…

Yeah the most recent vote acts as a recommendation for/against but the city council has ignored the planning commission before.
-
Having Target onboard makes the project seem much more realistic, and it gives people something tangential to hold on to. Without the project, I don't see Target adding another location in the area.
-
The proposal failed to pass in front of the planning commission last night, on a 4-4 split vote. The planning commission's vote is a recommendation to council, not literally blocking the project. The project will have a public hearing in front of th…

Well, I imagine much of the coordination and project management couldn't start until the City Council was on board with it. However the lack of tenants should allow this project to start sooner than most.
