I think the competition will help, and I'm sure that there are students/staff that prefer Starbucks over Sparty's anyways. I would like to see more restaurants located within parts of campus. It can be quite a distance to Trowbridge or Grand River f…

I like the idea that this project should add more retail, and only one new restaurant, which will take the place really of two (Post/El Azteco), in the somewhat saturated bar/restaurant market. I don't think El Azteco is going anywhere. The bui…

Cool! Yeah I agree. Museums like this build upon and add to our local culture.

That's great news. It's nice to see the project get off the ground

I think it is a shame that the township and DTN are so focused on automobile and northward-expansion. For this and many other projects to succeed and increase the quality of living, they will need to incorporate proper busing and non-motorized trans…

The Marriott located just a block away is also eight stories IIRC, so it shouldn't be that big of a change in landscape.

This is great news, and will help the curb appeal of the East Lansing/Lansing corridor.

It's nice to see more statues/significant markings along the river trail. Will this block the ice rink idea though? Maybe there will be a way to incorporate this into a future ice rink.

Yeah I'm pretty sure you're right MichMatters. Much of that is going to have to wait. In the mean time, it would be nice to see MegaBus or BoltBus add East Lansing/Lansing as one of their destinations. They currently offer Detroit to Chicago for $13.

There have been a lot of great improvements to urban areas over the past 10 years, and population trends are showing that people are moving back to cities. Honestly, I think the more important thing to keep in mind is making sure that gentrification…

Yeah, Emmons Hall is part of Brody. It is the hall directly across the street from the Kellogg Center parking lot.

Interesting that the photo the Lansing State Journal decided to post has a subtitle of July 28, 2008: I hope that the project gets off the ground, but the news feels similar to the that which got published before the permit extensions went for re…

There are lots of updates about campus projects to be found in the most recent minutes of the MSU Construction Planning group: http://www.construction.msu.edu/index.cfm/construction-junctions/archived-meeting-materials/february-10-2011-meeting-agen…

That would make a lot more sense. I'm guessing that the plywood will only be up until they can finish repairing the structural damage.

I found the post that mentioned the timeline. Back in August, 2008, hood posted the development agreement to the forum. It stated that: Commencement of Construction of the Mixed Use Buildings shall be no later than fifteen (15) months from Comp…

As far as I can remember, the proposal didn't get funding from the stimulus. The city is still looking at doing the project, although they are looking elsewhere for funding.

Capital Gains Media is reporting that the Marketplace development has been awarded a 20 percent tax cut, and will proceed with construction. They are now putting saying that construction will start at the end of 2011, to allow time for planning, bud…

A while back I remember somebody telling me that there is another SoS branch in downtown Lansing for the state congress members. I can't find mentions of it in the SoS Branch Locator, so it might not exist anymore.

@JazperG: This is what I read on EastLansingBars.com: Ok it looks like the new Lou Ha's has been confirmed. They are moving into what was formerly Small Planet, then "Arena" and will now soon be the new Lou and Harry's The way I read it, it …
