Wow the Forever Park in that linked document is awesome, really a game changer. Combine that with reduced automobile lanes and more multimodal lanes around the complex and we really could have a forward-thinking downtown. It's sad that these ideas w…

I kinda like the designs, as long as the Capitol building is kept. Scheme C, with the obelisk and senate and house office buildings within the complex is nice. There is also some nice and unique designs, even though they are so brutalist. One of the…

I'm happy if it doesn't fully replace Greenlawn. I don't know what would happen to that part of town if the hospital were to close and leave a big vacant building in the middle of the neighborhood. It will be good to have some activity there to keep…

@ratchetwrench yeah that is probably why they removed them, maybe with some nudging from the county health department. Ideally we could put in smaller standup tables as a way to help support the downtown restaurants with takeout business. In othe…

Wow what a beautiful change. The old building facadehad those tiny windows. I wish they had never covered up the original building. But these news buildings with their brick fronts look great. Nice job, I wish the move-in wasn't during a global pan…

Yeah, my hopes for a location would be any of the very large surface parking lots in downtown Lansing (Allegan & Walnut, Pine & Kalamzoo, or Grand & Kalamazoo). When they say "highway outside of downtown", the only places I can think of …

The LSJ has an opinion piece about the U-Haul development at the old Kmart at Cedar and Jolly, https://www.lansingstatejournal.com/story/opinion/contributors/viewpoints/2020/08/21/bringing-blighted-property-back-life-lansing/3298666001/

It's been curious to see that Michigan State hasn't had much of a presence in downtown Lansing. They have a presence in Detroit. I wonder if they have just tried to leave Lansing to Cooley and LCC. They put up the MSU signs on the lightposts along M…

Thank you!

Yeah, clicking on an ad helps but clicks have to be "real". If people click on them just to give money to the site, Google will start to notice unusual patterns and doesn't pay for them.

That's not good news for Cooley but it was forseeable. I think the good news out of it is that they are choosing to keep Lansing as their headquarters.

Yeah I can put up a PayPal donation link. Thanks I'll try to do that later today

I checked Google Streetview and there are some gnarly scratches along the roof of the bridge. Would be a great place to set up a webcam, even covertly if it's battery operated or you can somehow get an extension cord out there.

Cool, good to hear. They don't bring in much money at all though. At least on impressions alone, they bring in about $0.05 per day. I think they would be more profitable if people clicked on them, but they aren't always that relevant.

I don't think so. I think the best we can do is lock the thread and point people to the original thread. I'll lock it now.

I got the feeling that this pretty much died when Virg left office without a deal signed. It seemed it was something he was pushing for hard and Mayor Andy hasn't made it a priority. Now with Covid this is really dead considering governments are str…

This is very cool, thanks for sharing it. The rails are also cool since we've seen so many rail-to-trail conversions. Traverse City has a very extensive trail system and the trail that runs behind the state campground in TC also has active rails alo…

Thanks, I've considered a membership model but I wasn't sure how much work that would require for me to set it up. If the ads don't work out or are just too annoying we can try that.

East Lansing is removing the outdoor dining area on Albert Ave and reopening the street to cars today. This was reported by WLNS: https://www.wlns.com/news/local-news/east-lansing-closes-outdoor-dining-area/ I don't understand the rush he…

Thanks, that means a lot to me. I feel that there is a great community here of like-minded and respectful discussion. I do wish the ads were a little more contextual, but maybe it will get better with time? 🤷♂️
