  • They've started to tear down a nature (with probably 15 large size trees) area adjacent to their current building. This area will probably be used for a parking lot or part of the new building. I think it's pretty stupid how companies say they ar…
  • All the windows of this building have now been boarded up: I'm guessing we'll start to see demolition coming soon, once they finish any interior demo that might have to be done.
  • It is interesting, but I'm not worried. Until they start doing some sort of site work and ordering steel, they really don't have to have a solid number of floors.
  • I don't think there really are that many problems with traffic there. I've always gotten through a light on it's first pass through when on Grand River and Albert as well, unless there is a major event going on like a football game.
  • New hotel near MSU gets green light The article above says that construction should start next Spring.
  • The ordinance to conditionally rezone 0.55 acres of the West Village project was approved 4-1 by the city council on Tuesday. It was the 13th meeting about the project. I'm happy to hear that it passed, as now we'll see the West Village project star…
  • The City Council will be deciding upon the application to rezone the .55 acres of land for the Residence Inn at it's meeting on Tuesday night. I hope they pass it so we can see the West Village project come full circle.
  • The deadline to provide a detailed property description and a comprehensive financing package, was previously Oct. 1; now the deadline is Jan. 1, 2009. The city council has pushed back the deadline 3 months now. I sure hope that demolition still …
  • From the LSJ: Tonight's city council meeting may discuss a deadline to tear down the eyesore that exists on Kalamazoo Street. It's about time. That building has sat there now for about two years I think.
  • It looks pretty cool! I like it. Thanks for the photo jwswrites.
  • I never got an email back from the City with renderings, but I found them on the city's website nonetheless. I haven't had a chance yet to look through them, but I will try to tomorrow.
  • Yeah it's usually temporary. Most places where I see the asphalt, they rip it out after the construction and replace it with bricks. They did that for the rain garden project along Michigan Ave.
  • Kris Elliot has plans to move Troppo across the street to the northeast corner of the intersection of Washington and Michigan Ave. The new restaurant will be twice the size of the current Troppo. It will be built on the plaza in front of One Michiga…
  • I emailed the City about it but never got a reply back about the new rendering.
  • The Residence Inn rezoning has been pushed back again until the work session next Tuesday. A new rendering was introduced last week and the council wanted some more citizens to be able to see it first.
  • It's an absolute must that this proposal passes. A rate increase will only hurt the riders of CATA more as everything else that is purchased for home goes up. Mass transit, with the exception of places like NYC, has historically been paid for the mo…
  • Here is a picture I took of today of the first buildings that will be demolished. Some of the awnings are already taken down:
  • Some pictures I took today:
  • Here's a panorama I shot today. The new 241 Louis St is on the right. I would expect to see a few more buildings like this announced for that neighborhood in the next year, especially when the ordinance above gets passed.
  • The city has completed terms to purchase the land for the 520-space parking ramp and demolition should start by the year end, a new Lansing State Journal article says. I have noticed some small teardown already on the Thai Hut building next to th…
