  • That curved cement wall in front of the building is now clad with marble and a big "Michigan State University". It is a really nice looking building and will be one the of the first things seen when driving onto campus down Shaw Lane.
  • Here is a graphic of the addresses highlighted in yellow:
  • Here's a general recap from the LSJ about the meeting: Tuesday's workshop centered on defining visions for Michigan Avenue and discussing possible improvements. For instance, improving the walkability of the corridor could be met in part by add…
  • From yesterday's City Council meeting: Introduced and referred to the Planning Commission Ordinance No. 1199; an Ordinance to rezone 324, 334, 404, 414, 424, and 444 Michigan Avenue; 321 Elm Place; and 131 and 139 Louis Street from RM-32, City C…
  • The City Council will talk about the proposed contract zoning for the site of the Residence Inn tonight at it's work session. Read more at the state news.
  • Here is the rendering from the City Pulse:
  • I've got a copy of the rendering and will scan it in today. It looks about 20 stories.
  • They've opened up Bailey Street in front of the development now, and it only looked like they were a week away from finishing the expansion of the surface lot across the street. I was surprised, yet happy, to see that the expansion of the surface lo…

  • In response to LMich's merge idea, I think the two threads could stay separate since this thread could include other trail systems as well. We can wait and see what happens. Any input from other people?
  • An interesting thing I noticed in New York City is that they have started to paint bike lanes green, because they've found with research that drivers are less likely to swerve into or drive in the lanes. I guess it's because they subconsciously thin…
  • I'm crossing my fingers. I really think this has the potential to be a great project, and I'm not sure why people would be so apprehensive about it. I think that just because a building is old doesn't mean that it accomplishes it's goal.

  • I ride mostly on the river trail, throughout MSU, and down Michigan Ave. My favorite trip is to start the river trail at Kalamazoo and Clippert and ride to Old Town.
  • Construction has been postponed from Fall 2008 to Spring 2009 as there are some more design details being worked out. Also, the bilding will sit shen finished for the fall-winter-spring to let it "climatize" and have it's formal opening in 2011. …
  • I had wanted to go to the meeting but some errands got in the way. I'd be glad to hear what people said too.
  • Well the picture from capitalgainsmedia is a little old. The clock tower is now finished and the outside of all the buildings looks complete. There is a little pond in the back of the buildings with a wooden bridge over it. My camera is currently br…
  • Interesting background on the articles jwswrites. I'll have to check them out later today when I get some free time.

  • Here is a new rendering of the MSP Headquarters: There is an article about it in this week's Capital Gains: $45 Million State Police Headquarters Changes Downtown Lansing Skyline
  • Yeah, it is a nice earth tone.
