  • Plans look to be moving forward with the redevelopment of the two houses on Louis Street. The developer is hoping to demolish the houses in May 2010 when the current leases expire.

  • In the same article from the State News as the City Center II stuff today, it's mentioned that the city is going forward on an application for TIGER funding from the Feds to renovate the EL Amtrak station.
  • Developer proposes 8-story complex at Grove St., Albert Ave.

David Krause and Doug Cron are proposing an 8-story mixed-use complex at the corner of Grove St. and Albert Ave. in downtown East Lansing. The corner is currently occupied by two properties that Krause owns. The two developers previously built the Stonehouse Village and Albert Place Condominiums developments. They are looking to house the cities Restaurant Incubator, an offshoot of the cities Technology Innovation Center (TIC).

The quickest timetable would put construction starting in May 2011.

  • @MichMatters: This is on the other corner of the intersection from that development. That development was on the parking lot, whereas this is planned for the site of a house and small 2-floor apartment building.
  • I'm glad to hear of more potential construction in downtown EL. It will be nice to have two sizable downtowns in the area. The article didn't really say, but I'm assuming this will be student housing?
  • That's the feeling that I got. I don't think the condos sold that well for Albert Place, and that the remaining ones have been switched to apartments.
  • This is an LSJ story on the proposed apartments at Grove & Albert:

  • Seen this on Eyde's site, no more info other than a picture and a name: "Central Park mixed use development - Okemos, MI"

  • @hood: From what I can find, this development will be located at 5155 Marsh Rd in Meridian Township. It will have 27,000 square feet of commercial space, 36 multiple-family dwelling units, and a daycare. It's been in the planning phases since 2008, and Google Streetview shows construction equipment already on site.
  • I'll have to check it out next time I'm by there. I wonder if they've really started construction already? I'm not a big fan of suburban development, but I like it a lot more when it's developments like this one.
