I was checking MSU's facilities page and saw that the MSU board has approved construction of two new buildings, the continuation of the years long building spree at MSU looks set to continue for a good while. Specifics are likely a ways off but judging from the intended uses and the site outlines these will both be significant buildings. The first project is a new Plant and Environmental Sciences Building on the empty space at the NE corner of Farm & Wilson. The second, an Engineering and Digital Innovation Building will go on Red Cedar between Shaw and Wilson taking up space currently occupied by a parking lot and the Urban Planning and Landscape Architecture Building.
Another MSU construction project to add to the list, a 32k sq ft multi cultural center to be constructed at the northeast corner of N Shaw & Farm. No renderings yet but an architect has been selected and they're working on designs to present next year.
The construction of the new fence next to the Red Cedar River has begun, I was happy to see the ugly cyclone fencing taken down, I would guess that the new fencing will be like the black bar fence on Michigan Ave.
First significant office/headquarters project since the start of the pandemic, and much of the interior design was directly effected by the pandemic, apparently.
Not big news, however the have installed the new fence along the Red Cedar and it looks very nice. They did not need to remove many trees so it looks like it may have always been there.
There is an artical in the LSJ.com [pay] about some MSU owned land in Clinton County that is being marketed for development of a simi-conductor chip manufacturing plant. The land is in Eagle Township, and in the envisioned concept they talk of the development being even larger than the St. Johns dairy plant!
