  • There's an LSJ article on the new Sparrow facility in Grand Ledge, there's no new details besides stating that it is expected to open in winter 2027.

  • Both McLaren and Sparrow rent space in a large medical center building on Saginaw behind the Taco Bell. I'm curious what the building owner will do now that they are losing the two major tenants.
  • They will be just fine. All of these places are outgrowing everything because so much development is happening over that way.
  • I don't think it'll be an issue either, as @MichMatters said the westside is seeing a lot of growth. The lack of an emergency room or ambulatory care center on the west side was already a bit of problem before McLaren moved, with them on Collins the distance between Grand Ledge residents and trauma care was getting ridiculous. These are very necessary facilities.
  • Eagle Township residents have successfully hobbled this area: https://www.wilx.com/2024/11/14/eagle-township-mega-site-defeated-by-residents-disapproval/

I'd be less angry if it weren't for people having silly/disingenuous stances like "there's no labor force to support it", "it's taking away farm land" or "use existing industrial buildings". These people are idiots. I have a feeling the $50+ billion Western Digital facility that looks likely for the Flint area would have very likely been coming here if it weren't for this fiasco. We may have missed our opportunity to land something as significant as a major microchip manufacturing plant.
