New sidewalks and pavers are complete adjacent to the project along Grand River. Planter boxes with seating are being fabricated and will be installed in the near future. Drywall is mostly complete through the top floor of the Grand River building, with finishes making their way up the building as well.
Next week, work begins to coordinate final fixture deliveries for Target, as well as underground utility work in the alley (see below).
On the Albert side, the curb lines were poured this week as work continues on the exterior hardscapes. Windows are making their way on the northern retail/ restaurant areas as the Board of Water & Light began work to install the street lights along Albert. Work continues on the parking structure as drywall has made its way to the top of the apartment building on the east side.
This has gone from a pothole filled city parking lot to this huge building in what seems like a short time it is pretty amazing. I agree that the brickwork is very nice and the way they have "hidden" the parking structure is one of the best examples of this I have seen. The Skyvue being one of the worst! I can see this sidewalk being very lively this autumn, I bet Beggar's will be happy when they open the sidewalks.
EAST LANSING — The new Landmark apartment complex on Grand River has been cleared for occupancy, with move-in expected to begin on Saturday.
Another downtown student housing complex, the Hub on Campus, still must pass a final safety inspection before tenants are allowed to move in.
Tenants are set to move into the 10-story, 347-unit Hub complex starting "later next week," Michael Gasperetti, regional manager of the Chicago-based Core Spaces development company, said.
The 12-story, 243-unit Landmark is located above the small-format Target store, which opened in July. The complex is marketed toward students and young professionals. That complex has received a temporary occupancy permit clearing it for habitation, city officials confirmed.
BTW, leasing has been good for these projects, to say the least:
More than 96% of the units at the Landmark have been pre-leased, Mack said.
For The Hub:
The Hub complex is over 90% leased with only studios still available, according to Gasperetti.
Looks like the senior apartment building at Center City, Newman Lofts, has opened. This pretty much means the whole project is completed save for some buildouts on the ground floor.
I went to the MSU football game Saturday and noticed that there was furniture on some of the balconies in the new building. I really like the way this project turned out. It is really clean and modern and nice to look at. I bet it would be fun to live there. At the game, I went up to the top of the newer westside of the stadium for the first time. Lansing looks like a huge forest of trees with some tall buildings sticking out above the treeline from up there. The Skyvue stands out and looks better from a distance! The game was great, but the TV breaks these days are kind of annoying it seems to take the momentum away from the game, plus they play dance club music really load for almost every second the team or the band is not playing. The halftime show was really something with the alumni-band of 1,000, joining today's band. It was all so much fun, and I was thinking how cool it is that we[Greater Lansing] put on this big show seven or eights times every autumn. I'd say we do it very well.
