Another brewery is coming to town. Ozone's Brewhouse will open in a non-descript factory at the corner of Turner and Beaver in the northern end of Old Town.
Dan and Kyle Malone, a father and son duo, plan to open Ozone’s Brewhouse this spring in a warehouse at 305 Beaver St.
“This won’t be your standard true-to-style beer,” said Dan Malone, of East Lansing. “We call beer liquid art, so it fits into Old Town."
The Malones plan to have five house beers, each with an interesting mix of flavors, among them a cherry vanilla amber ale, a chocolate pepper porter and a sage ale. A chocolate mint stout, a raspberry saison and a lemongrass wheat will be among the seasonally available beers.
I had totally forgotten about this. The pool down at the South Lansing Community Center (Harry Hill) has been under renovation and is now complete. Laux Construction out of Holt did the renovation:
Wow, that is nowhere close to Lansing Eastern. It would be nice if a public indoor pool could be built attached to Don Johnson Fieldhouse. I think East Lansing's swim team swims at McDonald Middle School at the corner of Burcham and Hagadorn (about 3/4 of a mile from the high school) because of issues with the pool at the highschool.
Well that's funny. There was a brief time when LCC swam at East Lansing HS if I'm not mistaken because of the demolition of our pool. Not sure where they swim now.
It looks like the apartment building pictured in the rendering of that Washington & St Joe office building is a real proposal after all: South Edge Lofts
I got the impression from reading the release they are talking about the whole thing. I don't see 13,000 square feet of ground floor office space in that rendering for the building on the left.
BTW, love the name they chose for the development.
If you're saying that the office and loft buildings are both part of this proposal, then yes that's what I gather also.
I still don't like the office building, neither in it's scale, location or design; at bare minimum it needs storefronts on the ground floor. I'm cautiously optimistic about this new loft building though, however I'll wait for more details and a clearer rendering to make too much of a judgement.

I've been waiting to see Old Town go north.
It's the building to the left in this rendering:

The LSJ has an article on this now also, complete with the outdated rendering: New mixed-use project set for S. Washington Ave
I'm going to go ahead and start a thread for this.
