Regarding the Walter Neller building, I had some good information about 6 months ago that Sean Elliot, the developer of the condo building at the end of Allegan, was also interested in purchasing this property. In fact, I thought that he already had. Maybe not.
I think the interest had been intended on providing more retail possibilities for the future residents of the condo tower. If it was going to be retail and not office, though, I think they'd probably have to rehab quite a bit of the frontage to include more windows.
Thanks, thecommish. Yeah, they'd have to totally reconstruct the thing to make it work for retail, though. Downtown's retail core must be extended off of Washington Square.
