  • Those railings have been up longer than that. That's actually the floor that Boji Group where has its offices.
  • I noticed that last week. I have no idea of any plans there, I don't recollect anything from the council meeting, so if there are any plans it's probably nothing special.
  • My dad was told that the state had to move some it's cables from poles behind the Town Center Building in preperation to tear it down. For those of you that don't know the Town Center building is the two floor building owned by Cooley at Capitol & Kalamazoo, it was proposed as a site for a performing arts center. I have no clue why they are tearing it down, though I assume it's simply for parking.
  • Council considers $440k Troppo loan

I'm glad to see this moving forward. In the article they say that the bottom floors of One Michigan Ave have already been boarded up in preperation for this. Has anyone noticed that themselves?
  • Yeah, there are boards on all the windows facing south on the 1st floor (I can't remeber if any higher floors have boards but I don't think they do).
  • Actually, if I remember correctly, the boards were up last week.
  • The Capitol Club Tower will be having a rooftop party during Silver Bells on top of the parking deck. I expect that they are moving forward with it. The windows on the first floor of the city club are all boarded up.
  • I think the only projects moving forward soon will be Accident Fund, City Market and possibly Ottawa @ Butler. All the news has been slow, I just wonder whether it has more to do with the global credit markets or the local economy. I think most if not all of the projects announced over the past 1-2 years will happen, it's just a matter of when, and now is not the time.
  • Council approves relocation of Troppo

This is from today's LSJ. It just says that council approved the $440k loan from the EDC and that construction should start in 2009.

Also, the new chiller plant on Walnut is coming along, I think they are about done with the foundation.
  • The plywood on the windows of the 1st floor of 1 Michigan Ave. has been replaced by grey colored material that matches the building keeping it from looking run down. Also, the awning on the south side of the buliding for National City Bank has already been removed.
