Had not seen the other 3 pictures of The Graduate Hotel (other than the main aerial one which has been posted before). Looking forward to another hotel in downtown besides the Marriott.
  • There a new depiction of the "600 Block" project a few pages after this one, on the development firm's web site. I like the entry gate next to the tracks. It looks like a billboard has been drawn on the side of the hotel, I am hoping that is just for color, maybe it's the hotel marquee.
  • I'm not super impressed with the design of The Graduate Hotel, but it does look better than the painted stucco siding they have been using for the new outer ring hotels and it is going to be done with light-colored materials so it's going to light up that area nicely.

I believe the Block600 rendering on the site is actually an older one; not 100% sure but what you see on the sign on the site is likely what's going to get built.

    Uh-oh:
  • ELi has more info, but the pictures on their post aren't loading for me,

Looks like a small part of the elevator shaft/core collapse at the top. The anti-high-rise/anti-development people are going to be thrilled about this, I'm sure.
  • any more updates on this?
  • ELi fixed the pictures and added more to the post I linked above. All streets are now reopened. It sounds like this won't be a huge setback for the project.

The developer is seeking to modify the site plan and special use permit to increase the height of the stand-alone apartment building on Evergreen (Building C) from 5 stories to 6 stories (to 64'-0"), raising the unit count from 72 to 99. They are also requesting internal re-arrangement of The Abbot (Building A) that would reduce the unit count from 218 to 197, though this would actually increase the bedroom count by 14. The staff report seems to imply the change for The Abbot doesn't require a review, so the only thing under review is the increase for Building C.

Glad to see the stand-alone building getting a bit more height; it always felt like a lazy afterthought.
  • The standalone buildings unit increase will also include upgraded materials and market rate apartments on the top floor. They will use brick for the bottom four floors, then a "softer" material for the top two floors.

    The renderings look really nice.
